Timer for Kimai
Start and stop Kimai timers from the toolbar, pick customer, project, and activity, and fix your recent entries.
Timer for Kimai puts your Kimai time tracker in the browser toolbar. Start and stop timers, pick the right customer, project, and activity, and fix your recent entries on your own self-hosted Kimai server, without leaving the page you are on. Built for people who self-host Kimai and want a clean, English, privacy-respecting control, instead of broad-permission add-ons that ask to read your browsing history. Start a timer - Customer, project, and activity pickers with type-to-search, populated live from your server, with your last selection remembered. - Create a new project under a customer, or a new activity under a project, right from the picker (if your Kimai role allows it). - Optional description and optional tags. - Keyboard friendly: Tab through the fields, Enter to start, Alt+Shift+K to open. While it runs - A live clock, plus the running time on the toolbar icon, so you can see your state at a glance: green when idle, red while a timer runs. - Edit the description in place, change the project or start time, stop, or discard an accidental start. - If your server's rounding changed the time when you stop, the popup tells you and offers a one-click Adjust. Recent entries - The last 7 days grouped by day, with today and this week totals. - Click an entry to change its project, activity, description, tags, start, end, or duration. Type 15, 1:15, or 1h 15m and the end time follows. - Start a fresh timer from any recent entry with one click, or add time manually. Least-privilege by design - Requests only the "storage" and "alarms" permissions, plus access to the one Kimai server you enter, granted at runtime. - No access to your browsing history, your tabs, or any other website. - Your server URL and API token are stored locally in your browser and are sent only to your own Kimai server. No analytics, no telemetry, no third parties. - Small, dependency-free, and readable, so you can audit every line. Setup 1. In Kimai, open your avatar menu and create an API token under API access. 2. Open the extension's Settings, enter your Kimai URL and token, and approve access to that one server. Works with any Kimai 2.x server over its REST API. Made by Vida Solutions, Inc. Learn more at https://www.vidasolutions.io. Kimai is a trademark of its respective owner.
