Overview

Marks items already in Zotero on Google Scholar and adds optional action/search buttons.

Zotref Checker highlights items you already have in your Zotero library on Google Scholar and similar search-result pages. It connects locally to your Zotero application via Zotero’s Local HTTP API (127.0.0.1/localhost) and does not transmit your Zotero library data or browsing data to any remote server. When a result matches your library, Zotref Checker can show an “In Zotero” button (opens the matching item in Zotero) and an optional “File” button (opens the first attachment as configured in Zotero). When a result is not in your library, you can configure optional external search buttons (for example, Semantic Scholar for articles and Open Library for books, or your own library/university search). Settings are available in your browser’s Extensions page under Zotref Checker -> Extension options, where you can: Customize Zotero buttons (text/color, enable/disable) Add/edit/remove external search buttons (text/color/URL/scope) Optionally enable Zotref Checker on additional sites (beta) Requirements: Zotero must be installed and open In Zotero: Settings -> Advanced -> enable “Allow other applications on this computer to communicate with Zotero” (default port 23119)
