ZiTan Chinese Popup Dictionary (字探) — hover over any Chinese text to instantly look it up. Hover over any Chinese text on a webpage to instantly see pinyin, definitions, HSK level, and frequency data. Features: - Hover any Chinese text to see definitions from CC-CEDICT (120,000+ entries) - Enriched with Dong Chinese data: HSK levels (1-9), word/character frequency ranks, etymology hints, stroke counts, and character components - Tabbed popup: Word tab for definitions, Character tab for deep character info (press Shift to switch) - Sub-word matching: shows all dictionary words starting from the cursor position, not just the longest match - Tone-colored pinyin with optional zhuyin (bopomofo) display - Simplified, traditional, or both character forms shown side-by-side - Keyboard shortcuts for power users: copy word (c), pinyin (r), gloss (g), full entry (e), speak aloud (s), cycle entries (n/b), toggle definitions (d), adjust highlight length ([/]) - Text-to-speech: press S to hear any word or character pronounced - Works on pages with user-select: none (Vue/React apps, news sites) - Dark, light, and auto themes - Adjustable font size (small, normal, large) - Domain blocklist for sites where you don't want the popup - Shadow DOM popup won't interfere with page styles - Fast: dictionary loads into IndexedDB on install, lookups are instant - Lightweight: no external API calls, everything runs locally - Open source: https://github.com/Kimeiga/chinese-popup-dictionary
