Yurei gives your AI coding tool a real browser. Connect Codex CLI, Cursor, Windsurf, opencode, pi, or any other MCP client, then ask it to work in your browser. Yurei lets your AI navigate pages, inspect interactive elements, click, type, scroll, read page text, and take screenshots. Models that cannot see images can still work from a structured text representation of the page. WHY YUREI • Your real Chrome Work with the tabs, cookies, and signed-in sessions already available in your chosen Chrome profile. • Visible by design While Yurei works, the active tab glows, its cursor is visible, and a Stop Yurei button stays within reach. • Tool- and model-agnostic Use it with major AI coding tools or any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). There is nothing to reconfigure when you change models. • Open source Yurei is MIT licensed. SET UP IN TWO STEPS 1. Add Yurei to Chrome. 2. Run `npx yurei-chrome setup` in a terminal and choose the AI tools you want to connect. Restart your AI tool, then ask it to open a page in your browser. Node.js 18 or newer is required for the companion. PRIVACY AND CONTROL Yurei can interact with pages available in the Chrome profile where you install it, including signed-in pages. Keep an eye on the visible activity indicator and use Stop Yurei whenever you want to interrupt it. The extension does not send browsing data to a Yurei service because no such service exists. The AI tool you connect may send page text or screenshots to its configured model provider, subject to that tool and provider's own settings and policies. Your AI, haunting your browser.
