YT Music Live BPM
Overview
Live BPM overlay for YouTube Music (energy-based beat detection prototype)
YT Music Live BPM adds a small overlay on music.youtube.com showing the detected tempo (BPM) of whatever is currently playing, plus a rolling graph of how that tempo has changed over the last couple minutes. How it works: - Reads the audio directly from the page’s own player through the Web Audio API. - Detects beats with an energy based algorithm (compares short-term signal energy against a rolling average) - no audio ever leaves your browser. - Shows a live BPM number and a sparkline of recent tempo history in the bottom-right corner. Good for DJs, dancers, producers, or anyone curious about the tempo of a track without switching to a separate app. Notes: - Works best on tracks with a clear, consistent beat (electronic, pop, hip-hop). Ambient, orchestral, or heavily syncopated tracks may give unstable readings. - No data collection, no network requests, no analytics - everything runs locally in the tab.
