YT Channel Volume
Overview
Balance YouTube volume per channel to a target loudness (LUFS), following live streams, and remember the volume per channel
Remembers a volume per channel and applies it the next time you open that channel. It never moves YouTube's own volume slider. ■ Volume from loudness Reads the Content Loudness the video carries and works out the gain that brings it to your target loudness (-18 LUFS by default, adjustable from -30 to -6). Loud uploads and quiet ones end up at the same perceived level. ■ A separate volume per kind Live (streams and their archives) and Video (uploads, premieres) are remembered separately for the same channel, for channels whose streams and clips are mastered differently. Shorts on the Shorts page (youtube.com/shorts/) are not handled. ■ Auto-apply LUFS Switch it on or off per channel and per kind, and set a default per kind for every channel, so a channel you open for the first time is handled too. Where no loudness can be read, the gain saved for that channel and kind is used instead. ■ Live streams On a live stream on air, Auto-apply LUFS follows the stream's own loudness as the player's stats for nerds show it, reading it every second and playing the gain it asks for, up or down. A stream opened from a channel's live page (youtube.com/@channel/live) is handled too. ■ Or set it yourself The popup slider runs from 0 to 600%, with preset buttons beside it. What you set becomes the saved value for that channel and kind. ■ On screen The gain in force can be shown as a percentage next to the player's volume bar (on by default). The popup and the settings page show gains as a percentage or in dB. The settings page lists the channels you have saved, with the value for each kind, and lets you delete one or all of them. Changes reach your other open tabs immediately. ■ The same settings on every computer Target loudness, the per-kind Auto-apply LUFS defaults, the display unit and the gain overlay are shared by every computer where you are signed in to Chrome with the same Google account and have the extension installed, when Chrome sync is on. Saved channels stay on each computer. ■ Data Saved channels are kept in your browser and are never sent anywhere. The shared settings are kept in Chrome's synced storage, which Chrome carries between your computers through your Google account when Chrome sync is on; the extension itself sends nothing. The extension asks only for storage and the active tab, and runs only on youtube.com.
