Overview
YouTube Filter Pro: hide unwanted videos with your own rules across recommendations, search, and Shorts. Everything runs locally.
YouTube Filter Pro puts your rules in control of your YouTube feed. Hide unwanted videos in recommendations, search, and Shorts, or remove a whole section such as the Up next sidebar. Your settings stay on your device. No setup is needed: write your own rules and the feed updates around them. YOUR RULES - always on, 100% local, zero network calls: - Keyword rules - hide any card whose title or channel contains a phrase you list. Case- and punctuation-insensitive, so "Mr Beast" catches "MrBeast". - Channel block lists - keep certain channels out of your feed, search, and Shorts shelf at once. - Channel allow lists - trusted channels can bypass rules for individual videos; they do not restore content inside a removed surface. - Video-type filters - hide Shorts, livestreams, replays, auto-generated Mixes, or collab videos (the watch together ones two channels publish together) entirely. - Promoted blocks removed - the "Go all in on ..." topic shelves, the "YouTube Playables" games row and YouTube's own "YouTube featured" promo banners (the Premium cross-promotions), on by default and one click away from coming back. SIX SURFACES, ONE CONTROL: - Home feed - Watch-page Up next / More like this sidebar - Search results - The Shorts shelf - The Shorts feed - Your Subscriptions feed FOCUS - LESS PULL FROM THE FEED: Five switches that quieten the feed instead of emptying it: - Hide videos you already watched (off by default; no profile turns it on) - reads YouTube's own watched-progress bar, so the extension stores no watch history of yours. For individual videos, allowed channels still win and Undo can restore the card; neither applies inside a removed surface. It covers your Subscriptions feed and, with the separate Also hide watched videos in the Home feed switch (off by default), the Home feed's recommendations. - Blur thumbnails (off by default; no profile turns it on) - the picture goes soft; the title, channel and views stay sharp, so you can still read the feed without it pulling you in. - Disable play on hover - stops the feed previewing a video with sound when your pointer rests on a card. - Hide search suggestions - removes the dropdown that guesses what you meant to type. The search box itself keeps working. - Hide the player next / previous buttons - removes the player's jump-to-next-video buttons. Autoplay itself is untouched. All five are off by default, and all five are free. TWO MORE SURFACES YOU CAN CLEAR: - Hide the description's "…more" button - the description stays and stays readable up to its clip; the button that would expand it goes. - Hide Shorts on channel pages - clears the Shorts section from a channel's home tab. That is a different element from the home feed's Shorts shelf, which its own switch already clears. Both are off by default, and both are free. CHANNEL MENU BUTTONS - ONE SWITCH PER BUTTON: Clear the button you never want from a channel's own menu: Live, Podcasts, Posts (YouTube renamed it from Community), Store, Shows and Shorts. The button goes; the channel's content behind it does not. All six are off by default, and all six are free. FOUR PROFILES - ONE CLICK INSTEAD OF SIXTY SWITCHES: The extension has more than sixty switches - one per thing YouTube puts on a page - and every one of them is yours to flip. If you would rather not read them all first, pick a starting point: - Just the noise - Removes Shorts, collaboration videos, ads and promos, topic shelves, Playables, surveys, end screens, and more. Mixes, livestreams, and replays stay yours. - Quiet feed - Same cleanup, plus hover previews, search suggestions, and player Next/Previous buttons. Mixes stay yours; thumbnails stay sharp. - Bare YouTube - Quiet feed, plus the Up next sidebar, comments, live chat, video details and controls, top bar, notifications, autoplay, and annotations. - Custom - Your own setup. Restores default filtering switches; your keyword and channel lists stay yours. A profile is a starting point, not a mode: every switch stays editable afterwards, and Custom puts the defaults back in one click. Profiles leave Mix, livestream and replay filters untouched, along with your keyword list, blocklist and navigation. They can only turn Shorts and collab filters ON, never OFF, so Quiet feed never shows Shorts. The tile marked "in effect" is always the one your settings currently match - if you have edited your way off a named profile, Custom is the one in effect, because that is exactly what it is now. FREE FOREVER - NO PAID TIER, EVER: Free forever. No paid tier, no subscription, no feature behind a gate. Everything runs on your device. (Promise made on 2026-10-22.) Every feature is available to everyone. There are no paid plans, trials, or features unlocked by donations. Donations are welcome and they unlock nothing: https://ko-fi.com/adamdracon - or support@dracon.uk. Donations keep the development going; there is nothing to unlock. HIDE YOUR WAY: - Hide (reflow) - default. The card disappears and the feed reflows as if it were never there. - Hide it your way - a filtered card can be removed (the feed closes the gap), replaced by a one-line note (the video is gone, the reason and a one-click Undo stay), or dimmed (a ghosted card with a compact near-black reason panel inset in the card's own slot - Keyword "crypto"). You pick the style. - Undo a video hide - Undo adds a local exception for that video, so it stays visible until you clear exceptions in the dashboard. PRIVATE BY DESIGN: - Everything runs entirely on your device with zero network requests of the extension's own - nothing you configure, hide, or read ever leaves the browser. - No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no accounts, no keys. SETUP IN MINUTES: 1. Install, then click the extension's toolbar icon - the dashboard opens in a tab. It is the only surface: its left sidebar holds the section nav and the master on/off switch, and the dashboard opens on the Filter section. 2. Want a starting point instead of sixty switches? Pick a profile at the top of the Filter section - Just the noise, Quiet feed, Bare YouTube, or Custom for the extension's own defaults. Every switch stays editable afterwards. 3. In the Rules tab, type a few keywords or channel names - your feed cleans itself up immediately. 4. Prefer proof over disappearance? Switch to "Show why" mode (the Rules tab) and undo anything you disagree with - the filter learns from every undo.
