Overview
YouTube transcripts and AI summaries, without leaving the video.
YouTube Transcript adds a panel next to the YouTube player with the full transcript of the video and an AI summary. Every line has a timestamp, one press copies the whole text, and both the transcript and the summary can be shown in 150+ languages. ✨ WHAT IT DOES ✅ Full YouTube transcript beside the video, with timestamps you can click ✅ AI summary that explains the video in plain words, with the key points and the terms it uses ✅ Copy the whole transcript in one press, with or without timestamps ✅ Translate the transcript and the summary into 150+ languages, right on the page ✅ Works on videos of any length, from a three minute clip to a four hour podcast ✅ No account needed to start ⚡ HOW IT WORKS 1️⃣ Open any YouTube video 2️⃣ The panel appears beside the player 3️⃣ Press Transcript for the text, or AI Summary for the short version 📝 YOUTUBE VIDEO TO TEXT Text is the fastest way to find the one sentence you came for. Search the page, copy a quote with its timestamp, paste it into your notes or into an AI chat. Handy for lectures, interviews and long podcasts, where nobody wants to scrub through an hour to find thirty seconds. 🤖 AI SUMMARY OF ANY VIDEO You get the gist, the key points and the terms the speaker uses. Enough to decide whether a tutorial or a talk is worth your hour, and to remember what was in it later. 🧠 WHAT'S IN THE SUMMARY An overview of the whole video, the key points, an analogy that makes the hard part click, and the key terms explained. Written in plain words, in the language you choose. 🌍 LANGUAGES Read the transcript and the summary in the language of the video or in any of 150+ others, translated right on the page. Non native speakers get the text to read along with, which is often easier than the audio. 💳 FREE AND PAID Start free, with no account and no card. A subscription removes the limits when you reach them. Payment is handled by Paddle, and you can cancel at any time from your account page. 🔒 PRIVACY We never sell your data and we do not track what you watch. If you sign in, we hold your email address and nothing about what you watched. The extension asks for access to youtube.com, where the panel lives, and to our own backend, which fetches the text, and nothing else. ❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I get a transcript of a YouTube video? Open the video and the panel appears beside the player. Press Transcript and the text is there, with timestamps. No link to paste anywhere. Does it work on videos without subtitles? It works on any video that has captions, which is most of them, including the ones YouTube generates automatically. If the author turned captions off, there is no text to show, and the panel tells you that. Can I copy the transcript? Yes, the whole thing in one press. Turn timestamps on if you want to cite, off if you just want the text. Can I use the transcript with ChatGPT or Claude? That is what most people do with it. Copy the text, paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other assistant, and ask for a summary, a translation or the answer to one question about a long talk. Can I get the transcript in another language? Yes, into any of 150+ languages. The language menu is on both tabs. What is the AI summary? A short read of the video in plain words, with the key points and the terms the speaker uses. It tells you whether the video is worth your time, and reminds you later what was in it. Is it free? Yes. You can start with no account and no card. A subscription removes the limits and can be cancelled at any time. Do I need an account? Not to start. An account is needed only to buy, and to carry a subscription between browsers and computers. Does it work on long videos? Yes. A four hour podcast takes a few seconds longer than a four minute clip, and the panel shows the text the same way. Does it slow YouTube down? No. The panel loads nothing until you press it, and the heavy lifting happens on our backend, not in your browser. Do you track what I watch? No. We do not keep a history of the videos you open, and we do not sell data to anybody. Why does it ask for access to youtube.com? Because the panel is drawn on the video page and reads the list of caption tracks that page already holds. The second host is our own backend, which fetches the text. There is no access to any other site. 🔗 Privacy policy https://gettubetranscript.com/privacy ✉️ Support support@gettubetranscript.com
