Get a YouTube video's transcript ready to paste into your notes, documents, or an AI chat for summarising. YouTube Transcript Copier adds a button directly to YouTube video pages and supported video thumbnails. Click “Pull transcript” to retrieve the available transcript. Once it is ready, the same button becomes “Copy transcript”—click again to copy the text to your clipboard. FEATURES • Pull transcripts from supported thumbnails on YouTube's home page, search results, and other video lists. • Copy from the video page using a button beside the Like controls. • Optionally prepend available video details, including the title, channel, video link, publication date, view count, duration, and description. Additional details may appear when available; missing fields are omitted. • Turn “Include metadata” on or off in the extension popup. Your preference is saved. • Reuse locally cached transcripts. The cache has a size limit and removes its oldest entries when space is needed. • Retrieve transcripts without opening extra tabs. HOW TO USE Find a video on YouTube and click “Pull transcript.” When the button changes to “Copy transcript,” click it again. Paste the text wherever you need it. For example, paste it into ChatGPT with your own request to summarise it. PRIVACY Transcripts, retrieved video details, and settings are stored locally in your browser. The extension requests content from YouTube but does not send transcripts to the developer or to an AI service. It contains no advertising or analytics. Turning off “Include metadata” excludes metadata from copied text; it does not disable metadata retrieval or caching. AVAILABILITY A transcript must be available from YouTube. The extension does not generate captions or transcribe audio, and some videos or transcript formats may not be supported. Automatically generated captions can contain errors. Video details reflect what was available when retrieved and may become outdated while cached. This is an independent extension, not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, Google, or OpenAI. It does not generate summaries or automatically submit text to ChatGPT.
