YouTube Summary is a Chrome extension that summarizes YouTube videos from their captions using AI. By clicking the “Summarize” button shown on a video page, the extension fetches the captions and generates a summary with the AI provider selected by the user. After installing it, users can quickly understand the content of long videos, making it easier to study, gather information, check news, and review key points from technical explanations. Summaries are displayed in the side panel, so users can read them without leaving the video page. The extension supports Claude, OpenAI, and Gemini, and uses a BYOK model where users provide their own API key. Users can choose Japanese or English as the output language and switch between Short, Medium, and Detailed summary modes. API keys are stored locally in the browser, and the developer does not collect user data. Only when the user starts summarization, necessary information such as the caption text is sent to the AI provider selected by the user.
