YouTube Skip & Speed Control

Control YouTube's skip step (0.1s units) and playback speed (up to 5x) from the keyboard and an on-player overlay.

Take full control of how you watch YouTube. This extension lets you change two things YouTube doesn't let you customize: how far the arrow keys skip, and how fast the video plays — all from your keyboard or a compact overlay on the player itself. Missed a word? Jump back exactly 0.5 seconds instead of 5. Watching a lecture? Push the speed to 2.5x, 3x, or anything up to 5x in 0.1 steps. Want to keep a frame? Save a screenshot of the video at its native resolution with one click. FEATURES • Custom skip step — change the ←/→ seek width freely in 0.1-second units (0.1–60 s) • Playback speed up to 5x — far beyond YouTube's built-in 2x limit, adjustable in 0.1 increments • On-player overlay — hover over the top-left of the player for one-click preset buttons for both skip step and speed • Screenshots — save the current frame as a PNG at full video resolution via the overlay's camera button • Fully customizable presets — define your own preset buttons as simple comma-separated lists • Settings sync — your preferences follow your Chrome profile across videos and devices KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • ← / → — seek by your configured step (same keys as always, only the width changes) • Shift + ← / → — decrease / increase playback speed • Ctrl + ← / → — shrink / grow the skip step on the fly YouTube's other standard keys (volume, fullscreen, etc.) are never touched, and all keys pass through normally while you type in the search box or comments. HOW TO USE 1. Open any YouTube video — the overlay appears when you hover over the top-left of the player. 2. Click a preset to change the skip step or speed, or just use the shortcuts above. 3. Click the extension's toolbar icon to fine-tune values, and open ⚙ to customize presets, increments, shortcuts, and screenshot options. PRIVACY This extension collects no data whatsoever. No analytics, no tracking, no external servers. Your settings are stored only in Chrome's own sync storage, and screenshots are saved only to your own Downloads folder.
