For vertical-monitor fans — sideways portrait videos and landscape videos alike, filling your screen. Watch YouTube on a vertical monitor and most of the screen is black bars. Videos filmed sideways make you tilt your head. YouTube Rotate & Fill Video adds two buttons to the YouTube player that rotate the video and fill the screen with no black bars. ▶ Rotate Rotates the video 90° per click. Ctrl+click turns it the other way. Shortcut: Alt+Shift+R. Stand a sideways portrait video upright and fill your vertical screen. Rotation applies to the current video only; the next video starts in its original orientation. ▶ Fill Removes the black bars and zooms the video to fill the player while keeping its aspect ratio (edges that spill over are cropped). Shortcut: Alt+Shift+F. Once on, it stays on for the next video. You can also toggle it from the toolbar icon. It works in a normal window as well as fullscreen, adapting to the window and player size, and the buttons also appear in YouTube players embedded on other sites. ■ Great for you if • You watch YouTube on a vertical or pivot monitor • You want sideways-filmed videos to stand upright • Black bars around videos bother you ■ Privacy • Collects no data and sends nothing anywhere. • Runs only on youtube.com and stores a single setting: whether Fill is on. You can change the shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Note: This is an independent tool and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
