Best of all, it works out of the box with Chrome's built-in on-device AI — no account, no API key, and nothing ever leaves your computer. WHAT'S NEW ★ Choose the language your quizzes are written in. Pick from 13 languages or leave it on Auto to follow whatever language the video is in. Watch a lecture in one language and be quizzed in another. (On-device AI covers English, Japanese, Spanish, German, and French; cloud providers cover all 13.) ★ On-device AI is here (and it's the new default). Quizzes can now be generated entirely on your machine using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model — no API key, no signup, no network calls. Just install and go. (Requires Chrome 138 or later; cloud providers remain available for other browsers or if you prefer a different model.) HOW IT WORKS At a configurable interval (e.g. every 5 minutes of watch time), the extension pauses the video and presents a short quiz. Every question is generated from the video's actual transcript — covering only the content you've already seen, never spoiling what's ahead. Answer the questions, see instant feedback, then continue watching. Questions are quietly generated in the background before each quiz is due, so the dialog appears the moment the video pauses — no waiting, no loading spinners. No key, no signup, no network calls — everything runs locally on your machine. Requires Chrome 138 or later; the options page walks you through a one-time model download. • Google Gemini — Free tier available with a Google account. A good cloud option to start with at no cost. • OpenAI (GPT) — Requires an OpenAI account with API access. • Anthropic Claude — Requires an Anthropic account with API access. • xAI Grok — Requires an xAI account. Cloud providers are accessed directly from your browser using your own API key. The extension includes a direct link to get a key for whichever provider you choose, and picks a recommended model for you as soon as the key is entered. If your browser doesn't support the on-device model, the extension will offer to switch you to a cloud provider. SETUP IN MINUTES Install the extension Open any YouTube video — with on-device AI, that's it; the extension handles the rest (Optional) Click the extension icon → Options to change the quiz interval, number of questions, or quiz language (Optional) To use a cloud provider instead, select it in Options and paste in your API key PRIVACY This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. With the default on-device AI, quiz generation happens entirely on your machine — no transcript or content is ever sent anywhere. If you choose a cloud provider, your API key is saved locally using Chrome's built-in storage, and the only outbound requests are the ones you trigger: transcript segments sent to your chosen AI provider's API to generate quiz questions.
