It seem mute the audio only. The background (buffer) still work and waste board band. Stop like this one will be better: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-no-buffer-stop-au/afgfpcfjdgakemlmlgadojdfnejkpegd Waiting for new update ;)

This stops displaying the video part, but forces the audio to play. Even if you try to use an add-on that normally stops everything from playing.
