Overview
Educational tool revealing YouTube channel ownership and corporate investments. For educational purposes only.
See the Corporate Backing Behind YouTube Channels. Ever wonder if a YouTube channel is an independent creator or backed by a larger corporation or private equity firm? In an increasingly complex digital media landscape, knowing who is behind the content you watch is more important than ever. YouTube Channel Transparency is a simple but powerful tool designed to bring this information directly to you. Our mission is to promote media literacy and empower viewers. By adding a clear, non-intrusive indicator to channels with identified corporate ownership, this extension helps you make more informed decisions about the content you consume. Key Features: 🔍 Automatic Detection: The extension automatically identifies channels from our curated database of corporate-backed entities as you browse YouTube. 🎨 Seamless Integration: A clean, yellow "Corporate Transparency" label is added directly next to the channel's name, feeling like a native part of the YouTube interface. It works on the homepage, video pages, search results, and channel pages. ℹ️ Informative Tooltip: Hover over the info icon (ⓘ) for a brief explanation of why the indicator is present, promoting understanding without being alarmist. 🛡️ Privacy First: Your privacy is our priority. The extension works entirely on your computer, comparing channel names to a list stored locally. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data or browsing history. Why Use YouTube Channel Transparency? Enhance Your Media Literacy: Gain a deeper understanding of the media you engage with every day. Make Informed Decisions: Use this information to better evaluate content for potential biases or corporate influence. Support Transparency: By using this tool, you contribute to a more transparent and accountable digital ecosystem. Disclaimer: This extension is provided for educational purposes to promote transparency. The list of channels is maintained to the best of our ability, but data accuracy is not guaranteed.
