Keep live chat on screen while watching YouTube in full screen. YouTube Live Chat Fullscreen is a free Chrome extension that puts the conversation over the video. Follow a live stream, read messages and reply without leaving the player. Live streams and chat replay Watch gaming streams, VTuber broadcasts and live events with the conversation in the same view. For archived streams with available chat replay, follow the messages from the original broadcast. Customize your chat overlay - Transparent background: adjust opacity and blur to let the video show through. - Move and resize: drag the panel away from the action and change its width and height. - Easier reading: adjust font, text size, text color, background color and message spacing. - Saved presets: choose a built-in style or save your own appearance settings. - Less clutter: hide usernames and profile pictures on ordinary messages, or collapse the input until you interact. Read and join the conversation The overlay uses YouTube's own chat, including emoji, member badges and the message box. Sign in to post messages during a live stream. Super Chats remain available where supported; posting and paid features follow the platform's requirements and the channel's settings. Archive chat is a replay, not a new live conversation. Get started 1. Install the extension and open a live stream or an archive with chat replay. 2. Enter fullscreen using the video player's fullscreen button. 3. Hover over the chat to move, resize or open its settings. Use the chat button in the player controls to show or hide the overlay. If you previously disabled it, turn on Fullscreen Chat in the extension's toolbar popup. Free and open source The extension is free and does not require its own account or subscription. The source code is public on GitHub under GPL-3.0. Paid features offered by the video platform are separate from the free extension. Privacy and permissions Settings stay in this browser using the storage permission. The extension runs on www.youtube.com, has no analytics or tracking, and does not send chat content or viewing history to the developer. Chat connects to YouTube's services. Optional fonts load from Google Fonts. Compatibility The extension works in desktop Chrome on videos with live chat or an available chat replay. Videos without chat do not show a panel. Compatibility in Opera and other Chromium-based browsers may vary; a separate Firefox version is available on addons.mozilla.org. The interface offers 55 language options, and settings can be operated with a keyboard.
