YDownloadNow finds the media a page is actually playing and lets you save it. Most videos on the web are not a single file: they are streams cut into hundreds of small segments (HLS .m3u8 or DASH .mpd). Your browser can play them but not save them. YDownloadNow reads the playlist, downloads every segment, and rebuilds the video into a normal MP4 file — without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss and no long wait. WHAT IT DOES - Finds both streaming video and ordinary media files on the page you are on. - Quality picker with the estimated size of each option, so you know what you are about to download before you start. - Save the audio only as MP3. - Handles encrypted and fragmented streams that simpler tools choke on. - Detects images, PDFs, archives and other files too — each type can be switched on or off, so the list only shows what you care about. - Filter by file type inside the popup, with a live count per type. - Thumbnails, so you can tell two videos apart before downloading. - Downloads tab: what you saved stays listed, with buttons to open the file or show it in its folder. - Choose a destination folder per file type (video, audio, images…). - Runs as a popup, a side panel, or its own window — your choice. - Works on a Chromebook: there is no desktop program to install, so the browser is the only place this can happen. VERY LARGE FILES A file is assembled in memory before it is saved, and past roughly 1 GB the browser may refuse it. YDownloadNow does not just fail: it warns you first and offers a lower quality that fits, and if a download does fail it offers that smaller version again with one click. Setting a destination folder (the folder button) removes that ceiling entirely. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not touch DRM-protected content. Widevine, PlayReady and SAMPLE-AES streams are refused by design, so it will not download from Netflix, Disney+, HBO or similar services — and it never will. Please only download content you have the right to, and respect each site's terms of service. PRIVACY Detection and assembly happen inside your browser. Page contents, the media it finds and your download history stay on your machine. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. There is one exception, and it is always your choice: for very large files, or sources your browser cannot fetch, the extension can offer a server-assisted download. If you accept, that single file's address is sent to our server so it can fetch and rebuild it for you. If you never press that button, nothing is sent. FREE AND PREMIUM Free, every day, with the counters resetting daily: - 1 video - 10 downloads from supported social networks - Other files by size: 20 up to 20 MB, 10 up to 100 MB, 1 above 100 MB - A download that fails does not count. Premium removes every limit: EUR 2.99 per month or EUR 19.99 per year, on up to 3 browsers. You can cancel at any time from the website. WHY IT NEEDS ITS PERMISSIONS - Access to the sites you visit: media is detected on the page you are looking at. There is no way to find a stream without seeing the page's requests. Nothing is sent anywhere from that. - Downloads: to save the finished file. - Opening the downloaded file is an optional permission — it is only requested if you press "Open file", and you can say no.
