XSLT Polyfill – XML & XSL Viewer for Sitemaps and RSS | XSLT Fix

)Overview
XSLT polyfill for Chrome: XML sitemaps, RSS feeds and XSL pages render again, XSLTProcessor works in web apps, local XML opens.
XSLT Fix is an XSLT polyfill that brings XSLT back to Chrome. XML pages that come with an XSL stylesheet look the way they were designed again, and web apps that use XSLTProcessor work again. Chrome has removed its built-in XSLT engine. Pages that relied on it, such as XML sitemaps from WordPress SEO plugins, styled RSS and Atom feeds, sitemap indexes, product feeds and reports, now show raw XML with the message "This document cannot be formatted as intended. It uses XSLT, which the browser does not support." Web apps that call XSLTProcessor in JavaScript stop working. XSLT Fix fills both gaps. STYLED XML PAGES, AUTOMATICALLY • Detects XML pages that link a stylesheet with <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" ...?> and shows them styled, like an XSLT viewer built into the browser • Uses libxslt, the XSLT 1.0 engine Chrome itself used, compiled to WebAssembly • Runs the page's own scripts and styles after the transform, so sortable tables and other interactive parts keep working • Handles xsl:import, xsl:include and document(), legacy encodings such as ISO-8859-1 and Windows-1252, XML inside iframes, sites with a strict Content-Security-Policy, and sitemaps with tens of thousands of URLs • Styles a tab that was already open when you install it, so there is no need to reload XSLTPROCESSOR FOR WEB APPS Some web apps, such as admin panels, invoice and report viewers, build their pages with XSLTProcessor in JavaScript. When one of them fails because Chrome removed it, the toolbar icon shows "?" and the popup offers to restore XSLT for that site with one click. It is restored only on sites you choose. LOCAL XML FILES Open an XML file from your computer and see it styled with its XSL stylesheet, something Chrome never supported. Turn on "Allow access to file URLs" for XSLT Fix in Chrome's extension settings to use it. For safety, a local file can only use stylesheets in its own folder or below. TESTED WITH XML sitemaps generated by Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO and SEOPress, RSS feeds, and large real-world XSLT documents. YOU STAY IN CONTROL • Turn it off for a single site, or everywhere, from the toolbar popup • Open the raw XML source with one click • If a stylesheet is missing, broken or hosted on another site, the page says why instead of failing silently PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Everything happens inside your browser. No page content, addresses or browsing data are sent to the developer or anyone else, and your settings are stored only on your device. • No analytics, no ads, no accounts, no remote code. • Ordinary pages are not changed. The XSLT engine only loads on XML pages that link an XSLT stylesheet, and on sites where you restored XSLTProcessor. • Same security rule as Chrome's own XSLT: a stylesheet must come from the same site as the XML file. FOR SITE OWNERS Your XML sitemap keeps working for Google and Bing either way, because search engines never used the stylesheet. XSLT Fix restores the human-friendly view for you, your team and your visitors. ABOUT XSLT Fix is made by Devrim Güneş Yeşilçimen, a product designer and design engineer (devrim.me).
