XSLT Browser Support - XSLT Polyfill, XML Viewer & Tester
Overview
An XSLT polyfill for Chrome: renders styled XML, RSS feeds and sitemaps, restores XSLTProcessor, plus an XML viewer and XSLT tester.
XSLT Browser Support is a complete XSLT polyfill for Chrome. XSLT not working in Chrome? XML page showing raw code instead of the page it used to be? It brings it back - and adds an XML viewer and an XSLT tester on top. Chrome stops rendering XSLT on November 17, 2026. From that day, every XML page that relies on an xml-stylesheet (styled RSS and Atom feeds, XML sitemaps, e-invoices, government and legal documents, library catalogs, intranet reports) shows up as bare markup, and web apps that call XSLTProcessor stop working. This extension renders them again, automatically. It works as an XSLT polyfill for your whole browser, using libxslt - the same XSLT 1.0 engine Chrome used - compiled to WebAssembly and running on your device. MORE THAN AN XSLT POLYFILL - Renders XML pages that declare an XSLT stylesheet, exactly as before. Nothing to set up: open the page and it appears as its author intended. - Restores the XSLTProcessor JavaScript API for the web apps you choose. When a page fails with "XSLTProcessor is not defined", the toolbar button offers to restore it on that site with one click. - Opens plain XML in a proper XML viewer: a collapsible tree that stays fast on huge files, search across tags, attributes and text, copy XPath, raw view with line numbers, wrap, copy and download. - XSLT Studio: an XSLT tester and editor built in. Edit XML and XSLT side by side with syntax highlighting, set xsl:param values, see a live preview, read xsl:message output in a console, and check timing. Open any page's XML and stylesheet in the Studio in one click to debug it. - Works on local files too. Open an XML file from your computer and its stylesheet from the same folder is applied (after you allow file access for the extension). - Shows what happened on every page. The toolbar badge and popup tell you whether a page was rendered, how long it took, which stylesheet was used, and any messages or errors from the stylesheet. - Switch between the rendered page and its XML source at any time (Alt+Shift+X). BUILT TO BE FAST AND SAFE - Light on ordinary pages: only a few kilobytes run on normal websites. The engine loads once, in the extension, and only when an XML page needs it. - A runaway stylesheet is stopped after a time limit instead of freezing the browser. - Handles the details native XSLT handled: stylesheets declared after long comments, xsl:import and xsl:include, document(), embedded stylesheets, text and XML output, legacy encodings such as ISO-8859-1, scripts in the rendered page. - Same security rules as the page itself: a stylesheet can only load what the page could load. The extension never lends its own permissions to a website. - Per-site control: pause the extension on any site, and restore the JavaScript API only where you need it. WHO IT IS FOR - Anyone whose feeds, sitemaps or XML documents suddenly look like code. - Site owners and SEOs checking XML sitemaps styled by their SEO plugin. - Teams with intranet tools, reports and devices that serve XML with XSL. - Accountants and businesses reading XML e-invoices (such as FatturaPA or UBL). - Developers who write, test and debug XSLT. PRIVACY Everything runs locally in your browser. No accounts, no analytics, no servers. Pages, stylesheets and results are never sent anywhere.
