Xero Filename Fixer
Overview
Restores spaces and special characters (& ' etc.) in file names downloaded from Xero.
The extension fixes the file names of downloads from Xero. Xero replaces spaces and special characters in client names with underscores — this extension turns them back. It reads the client name straight from the Xero page, so even characters like & and ' are fully restored. For example: A___B_O_Brien_Family_Trust-Financial_Statements.pdf becomes: A & B O'Brien Family Trust - Financial Statements.pdf Works on all file types (PDF, Excel .xlsx, CSV, ZIP and more) downloaded from reporting.xero.com and go.xero.com. Downloads from other sites are never touched. If you are a Xero user, you will understand how much time it will save you. Version history: V1.2.0 — More accurate matching: the client name is now matched only at the start of the file name, and the currently open client is preferred. This prevents wrong substitutions when client names collide or a short name appears inside a report title. Downloads are only touched when they come from a Xero page. V1.1.0 — Restores special characters (& ' etc.) using the client name from the page, not just underscores to spaces. Works on all file types automatically. V1.0.1 — Add Excel.xlsx to the list. V1.0.0 — Replace underscores with spaces in downloaded file names.
