Overview
See what a website is really tracking before you click Accept — in plain language, no tech skills required.
ConsentTheater helps you inspect website cookies, browser storage and third-party connections. Use the sidebar to see what a page loads and review activity before and after you interact with a cookie consent banner. Inspect a website - View cookies and their stored values. - Inspect localStorage and sessionStorage entries. - See the third-party hosts contacted by the page. - Identify known cookies and domains using the bundled Playbill catalogue. Unrecognised entries remain visible as unknown. Review consent behaviour Run a scan to observe cookies and connections alongside your interaction with a consent banner. Review which activity appeared before you accepted or rejected cookies. This helps developers investigate a consent implementation and gives privacy researchers a record of what the extension observed. Export your findings Copy a report, create a printable report or export a HAR network log for further inspection. The HAR export includes a sanitisation option to redact sensitive header values while preserving cookie names. Local analysis All analysis happens in your browser. ConsentTheater does not send scan data to a server, and you do not need an account. ConsentTheater is free and open source. It is an inspection tool, not a tracker blocker or a legal compliance checker. Its observations can support a privacy review, but they do not establish whether a website complies with GDPR or other privacy laws. Source code: https://codeberg.org/ConsentTheater/extension
