ThumbSkript now automatically prioritizes high-quality manual captions over auto-generated ones. • Better Regional Support: Selecting a base language (like English) now seamlessly matches all regional variants (like en-US or en-GB). • Cleaner settings interface and translation refinements across English, French, and Spanish. --- HOW IT WORKS • Hover: 📋 Transcript and ✨ AI Summary buttons appear on thumbnails and in the preview player. • Click: ThumbSkript retrieves the available captions and can optionally generate a local summary in the background. • Paste: The result is copied to your clipboard with a compact header containing the video title, channel, duration, and URL. KEY FEATURES • One-click transcripts: Automatically copies the most appropriate caption track, with optional timestamps in [MM:SS] format. • Local AI summaries: When Chrome’s Prompt API is available on your device, Gemini Nano generates concise 5–8 bullet-point summaries locally, with no API keys or third-party servers. • Session history: Access your recent transcripts and summaries from the extension popup during the current browsing session. • Seamless experience: Repeated requests use cached results, button visibility is configurable, and no account or sign-in is required. PRIVACY AND LIMITATIONS • Local processing: Summaries are generated directly on your device when Chrome’s Prompt API is available. Your content is not sent to an external AI service. • YouTube captions: Transcripts are retrieved from YouTube. Videos without captions and some live streams are not supported. • Session storage: Generated transcripts and summaries are stored only during the active browsing session. They are deleted when the browser is closed or the extension is reloaded. • Preferences: Settings such as button visibility, timestamp display, and AI activation are saved in your browser and may be synchronized with your Chrome account.
