LinkChecker - Check Link Destinations

Shows the real destination domain when you click a link in webmail and asks before opening it. Trusted domains open directly.

When you click a link in an email opened in your browser, LinkChecker pauses and shows where it really goes before anything loads. WHY Phishing emails hide fake sites behind convincing text and buttons. New scam sites appear every day, so block lists can't keep up. LinkChecker does not try to label pages "safe" or "dangerous". Instead, it puts the real destination in front of you so you can decide for yourself. HOW IT WORKS • Click an address you haven't trusted yet, and a confirmation dialog appears first. • Choose "Trust and open" (opens without asking from then on), "Open this time only", or "Don't open" (selected by default). • Moving around within sites you already trust is never interrupted. • Manage your trusted list, or paste any URL to check it, from the settings page. WARNING SIGNS IT POINTS OUT • The text shows one address, but the real target is a different one • "@" tricks, raw IP addresses, and look-alike characters (such as Cyrillic letters) • Unencrypted http, unusual ports, URL shorteners, and URLs that embed another URL • Pages on services where anyone can publish content, or ad / click-tracking redirects • Recently registered names (less than 90 days old) For the most serious signs, you must tick a confirmation box before you can continue. REGISTRATION INFO The dialog shows when the destination was registered, who registered it, and the registrar, taken from public registry lookups (RDAP / WHOIS). Only the domain name is sent, never the full URL. You can turn this off in settings. WHERE IT WORKS Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail and other major webmail services. You can also turn it on for all websites in settings. PRIVACY No ads, no tracking, no account. Page content never leaves your browser. Your settings and trusted list are stored with Chrome sync storage. Available in 20 languages.
