Keep the words worth returning to. Strata lets you highlight webpage passages, add your own notes, and find them again in a searchable personal library. HIGHLIGHT AS YOU READ Select text and choose Highlight or Add note. Saved highlights return when you revisit the page, and your notes stay alongside the passage. FIND THE ORIGINAL QUOTE Browse highlights grouped by article, search by passage, note, title or URL, and choose Open highlight to return to the saved quote. New quote links require Strata enabled in a Chrome profile that still contains the highlight. Without Strata, the article opens normally. Changed, missing or ambiguous text can prevent a jump; your saved quote remains available. Older exported links retain their earlier behavior. SAVED IN YOUR CHROME PROFILE Your library and Notion credentials are encrypted locally with AES-256-GCM. The key stays in your Chrome profile; this does not protect against someone controlling the full profile or device. Highlights and notes on already loaded pages work offline and survive browser restarts. No Strata account is required. Installing Strata in another profile does not automatically transfer your library, and uninstalling removes its local data. OPTIONAL NOTION CONNECTION Setup continues in a persistent library tab. Choose an existing Strata notebook to restore its highlights and notes into this profile, or create a new notebook. Review a summary before confirming; only possible duplicates and conflicting notes need individual decisions, which can be deferred. Unreadable entries appear in the import report. Import happens once per notebook in each profile. After setup, new local highlights and note edits sync to Notion, grouped by article. Later Notion edits do not automatically return to Strata. Reconnecting does not repeat the import. Deleting a local highlight keeps its Notion copy, which a fresh profile's first import can restore. Existing working connections keep their current behavior. The Notion connection remains experimental. PRIVACY AND PAGE SUPPORT Strata has no developer-operated backend, advertising or analytics. An optional Notion connection sends saved passages, notes, source URLs, titles and dates directly to Notion, and reads supported notebook content for setup and targeted updates. Review the access explanation before authorizing: Notion may grant access beyond the Strata notebook. Strata supports selectable text on ordinary webpages. Chrome internal pages, the Chrome Web Store, Chrome's built-in PDF viewer, images and canvas text are not supported. Local-file highlighting requires Chrome's Allow access to file URLs setting. Changed page content may prevent highlight restoration or a precise jump.
