IEP Writing Companion helps special education teachers review prior IEP information, organize current evidence, and prepare editable, measurable IEP draft language alongside IEP Direct. START WITH THE FULL CONTEXT Open the complete IEP Direct document view and scan available sections before drafting. The extension keeps the captured context in the side panel until you clear or close it. ADD CURRENT EDUCATOR EVIDENCE Add classroom observations, assessment results, progress data, strengths, needs, parent concerns, successful supports, and other teacher notes. Optional screenshots can provide additional context. Information is sent to the configured AI service only after the educator confirms school or district approval and requests generation. PREPARE EDITABLE IEP DRAFTS Generate teacher-reviewed draft language for supported areas, including: • Overall academic performance • Reading, writing, and mathematics • Academic, developmental, and functional needs • Student strengths, preferences, and interests • Social, physical, and management needs CREATE MEASURABLE GOAL CANDIDATES Prepare editable annual goal candidates when the available evidence supports a usable baseline. Supported areas can include reading, writing, mathematics, communication, motor, daily living, behavior, social-emotional learning, and executive functioning. Educators may also request additional goal drafts and replace any clearly marked placeholders with verified current data. REVIEW A CASELOAD AT A GLANCE Upload a finalized IEP report PDF or scan selected IEP Direct caseload rows to build a reviewable tracker. Check every extracted field, then download the tracker as a filterable Excel workbook or CSV when available. TEACHER CONTROL AND PRIVACY • Every suggested section and goal remains editable • Teachers review, correct, and approve all language before use • Nothing is automatically posted to IEP Direct • Student information is transmitted only after an educator-initiated request • School or district authorization is required • Scanned information can be cleared from the side panel IEP Writing Companion does not determine eligibility, classification, placement, services, or clinical decisions and does not replace the IEP team or professional judgment. A teacher account, internet connection, IEP Direct access, and school or district authorization are required.
