# Easy Video Splitter - Browser Extension **Split and Edit Videos Directly in Your Browser β No Server Upload Required!** ## π Features - **100% Local Processing**: Your videos consistently stay on your device. - **Privacy First**: No data is ever uploaded to a cloud server. - **Fast & Secure**: Leveraging your browser's capabilities for secure and rapid video editing. - **Format Support**: Supports common formats like MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and more. - **Precise Cutting**: Cut by time or by frame number; split your videos into multiple segments with just a few clicks. - **No Installation**: Runs entirely as a lightweight browser extension. ## β¨ Feature Details ### Visual Dual-Track Timeline - **Selection track** (top): Yellow dashed region is the current selection β **press and drag to paint a range**; a plain click only moves the playhead and never alters your selection - **Segments track** (bottom): Purple blocks are confirmed segments β **press and drag to scrub**, the video preview follows in real time - **Timeline zoom**: πΒ± zooms Γ1βΓ16 (centered on the playhead), with a pan slider when zoomed; the view auto-follows the playhead during playback - Real-time video preview while dragging selection or segment handles - Snap-to-edge: handles snap to segment boundaries (π§² toggle, **off by default**) - Floating action buttons (add/play above the selection, play/delete below the selected segment) track the zoom automatically ### Time / Frame Cutting Modes - A **Time / Frames** radio switches the whole editor between the two units - Switching to frame mode **auto-detects the video's frame rate** (via ffprobe); you can override the FPS manually (useful for VFR videos) - In frame mode: start/end snap to frame boundaries, β/β steps one frame, and Quick Split offers "every N frames" - Note: Fast mode cuts at keyframes and is not frame-exact β use Encode mode for frame-accurate cuts ### Quick Split - **Split by count**: Divide video into N equal parts - **Split by duration**: Auto-split every N seconds - **Split by frames**: Auto-split every N frames (in frame mode) - Option to clear existing segments or append (append is the default) ### Precise Time / Frame Editing - Time inputs accept direct typing in `MM:SS.mmm` or `HH:MM:SS.mmm` format - Frame mode inputs accept integer frame numbers - Invalid input flashes red and reverts to the previous value - Click segment list items to inline-edit start/end times or frames ### Keyboard Shortcuts - `I` / `O`: Set start / end point - `β` / `β`: Nudge the playhead (Β±1 second in time mode, Β±1 frame in frame mode; hold Shift for 5Γ) - `Space`: Play / pause - `Esc`: Deselect segment - `Backspace` / `Delete`: Remove selected segment ### Segment Management - Click a segment to select it (the playhead stays put); the selected segment gets priority for handle dragging - Selected segment shows play and delete buttons below the timeline - Each segment has a βΆ/βΉ play button that auto-pauses at segment end - Adding a duplicate segment shows a "segment already exists" notice - Clearing all segments asks for confirmation - When two segments share a boundary, dragging prioritizes the selected segment ### Export - All segments are **packed into a single zip download**, avoiding the browser's multiple-download block - Exports can be **cancelled** at any time - **Fast Mode** (Stream Copy): instant, lossless cutting (recommended) - **Encode Mode**: Re-encodes for better compatibility and frame-exact cuts, but slower ### Video Resizing - Custom width/height with aspect ratio lock - Uses scale + crop to avoid black bars ### Switch Video - Both the split page and the resize page have a **π Switch Video** button β swap in a new file in place without going back to the upload screen - Switching with pending segments asks for confirmation first - The β Back button on the resize page returns to the split page ## π How to Use 1. **Install** the extension from the Chrome Web Store. 2. Click the extension icon to open the app (opens in a new tab for performance). 3. **Drag & Drop** your video file into the upload area. 4. **Edit**: - **Press and drag** on the selection track to paint a range (a plain click only seeks). - Drag the yellow handles to fine-tune, or use the `I`/`O` keys or the numeric inputs. - Press and drag on the segments track to scrub; zoom in with π for precise ranges on long videos. - Switch to **Frames** mode to cut by frame number (FPS auto-detected, editable). - Click `+ Add Segment` to save the selection as a segment. - Or use "Quick Split" to auto-generate multiple segments. - Click a segment in the list to select and edit it. - Click the βΆ button on a segment to preview it. 5. **Export**: - Choose **Fast Mode** (Stream Copy) for instant cutting. - Choose **Encode Mode** for better compatibility and frame-exact cuts. - Click "Export All" β all segments download as a single zip file. 6. **Switch video**: Click π Switch Video to pick a new file without leaving the page. ## π Languages Supports **English** and **Chinese (δΈζ)**.
