Radio Mode for Twitch™ — Listen to live streams without the video Turn any live Twitch channel into a radio station. Radio Mode for Twitch™ adds a single button to the Twitch player's control bar that switches a stream from video to audio only. The talk, the music, the commentary and the community keep going — while your screen, your data plan and your battery finally get a rest. WHAT IT DOES Live streams are built for watching, but much of what happens on Twitch is worth listening to: music channels, podcasts, talk shows, cooking, art, long strategy discussions, or a favourite streamer chatting between matches. Often you do not need the picture. You just do not want to leave. Radio Mode solves that. Press the radio icon in the player and the extension asks Twitch for the audio-only version of the very same broadcast, then plays it in place of the video. The video pauses, the stream keeps running, and you keep listening while you work in another window, read the chat, or let the laptop lid stay closed on your desk. Press it again and you are back to normal playback. That is the whole interaction — one button, no accounts, no setup. Ideal for mobile hotspots, metered connections, shared Wi-Fi, dorms, hotels and trains. • Cooler, quieter, longer-lasting laptops — no video decoding means less CPU and GPU work, less fan noise, and noticeably more battery on the go. • Volume stays in sync — the player's own volume slider controls radio mode too, so nothing sounds louder or quieter than you set it. • Optional autoplay — turn on "Autoplay video when radio mode ends" in the extension popup and video resumes by itself the moment you switch back. Leave it off to stay on audio until you decide. • Works with the way you browse — theatre mode, full page, switching channels, several players open at once. The button follows the player and picks up where you left off. • Available in 43 languages, with the interface following your browser's language automatically. HOW TO USE IT 1. Open any live channel on twitch.tv. 2. Click the radio icon in the player's control bar, next to the play and volume controls. 3. Listen. Click the icon again whenever you want the picture back. The extension icon in your toolbar opens a small panel with the autoplay setting and a link to the help page. There is nothing else to configure. GOOD TO KNOW Radio mode works with live broadcasts. It is not available for VODs, clips or highlights, so the button stays greyed out on those pages. If a channel goes live while you are already on the page, refresh once and the button becomes active. On the rare channel where Twitch does not offer an audio rendition, playback stays on video. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS Radio Mode for Twitch™ is a listening tool, and it behaves like one: no account to create, no password to hand over, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing you do is sent to us or to any third party — the only servers the extension talks to are Twitch's own, and it asks them for exactly what the Twitch player would have asked for anyway. The permissions it requests are the minimum needed to do that job. Access to twitch.tv is what lets the button appear in the player and request the audio stream. Local storage keeps your autoplay preference and the session details needed to fetch the stream, on your computer only. The active-tab permission is used solely so the popup can tell whether the page you are on is Twitch, and show the right message if it is not. WHY LISTENERS LIKE IT People use Radio Mode to keep a music stream on all afternoon without melting a laptop, to follow a tournament while writing code, to practise a language with native speakers in the background, or to stay in a community they enjoy while doing something else. The result is the same: less bandwidth, less heat, less distraction, same stream. Install it, open a live channel, and press the radio button once.
