Overview

Detect the BPM of songs playing on YouTube, YouTube Music, and Spotify — live, in your browser.

What's the BPM of this track? Open GroovePeek and find out in seconds — while the music plays, right in your browser. Works on YouTube, YouTube Music, and Spotify. No uploads, no account, no setup. Click the icon and it starts listening. ✦ Made for • DJs and producers sizing up a track before it goes into a set • Dancers and choreographers pinning down a tempo before building a routine • Musicians matching a metronome to a reference recording • Anyone who just wants to know how fast that song goes ✦ What you get • The tempo, live — GroovePeek keeps listening and follows the music instead of freezing on one guess • A confidence label, so you know how much to trust the reading • A range bar showing how much the tempo has moved while you've been listening • A beat indicator pulsing in time with the music • Tap Tempo — tap along and compare your count against GroovePeek's • Light and dark themes ✦ It tells you when it isn't sure Steady music with a clear beat reads reliably. Free-tempo playing — rubato piano, slow ballads, sparse recordings — is genuinely hard, and GroovePeek would rather show a dash than a confident-looking number it can't stand behind. When something does look off, Tap Tempo settles it in a few beats. ✦ Private by design Everything happens on your machine. GroovePeek analyses the tab's audio locally with Chrome's built-in Web Audio API — nothing is recorded, nothing is uploaded, and the extension makes no network requests at all. It requests no host permissions, so it cannot read or change the content of any page. It collects nothing about you or what you listen to, and the only thing it stores is whether you prefer the light or dark theme. The permissions it does ask for: tab audio capture, active only while the popup is open; an offscreen document, because Chrome won't process audio in a service worker; the current tab's URL and title, to tell whether the site is supported and to notice when the track changes; and local storage, for your theme choice. No account. No data collected. Just the tempo.
