Fast, private voice dictation for browser text fields

Speak instead of typing, anywhere on the web. Rattle turns your voice into text right where your cursor is: email, chat, documents, forms and comment boxes. HOW IT WORKS • Click into a text box and press Ctrl+Shift+U (⌘+Shift+U on Mac), click the floating mic button, or start from the toolbar popup. • Talk naturally, then press the shortcut again to stop. Prefer push-to-talk? Switch to Hold mode and release the keys when you're done. • Your recording is transcribed by Whisper on Groq and inserted at the cursor, replacing anything you had selected. FEATURES • Works in plain inputs and rich editors, including ones inside embedded frames. If a page won't accept inserted words, they're copied to your clipboard so you can paste them. • Two recognition models: Speed for everyday use, Accuracy for noisy rooms, accents and jargon. • Optional polish removes filler words and adds punctuation to longer passages. Add your own instruction, such as "use British spelling". • Custom vocabulary helps it get names and specialist terms right. • Automatic language detection, or a hint for English, Hindi, Spanish, French or German. • History you can search from the side panel: copy, pin, re-insert or delete past dictation, and export it all as JSON from settings. • A live level meter while you speak, and an automatic stop after two minutes. • The toolbar popup shows your last result and remaining Groq audio quota. • Light, dark and system themes. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No servers of our own, and no analytics, ads or tracking. • The microphone is used only while you're dictating. Audio goes straight from your browser to Groq and isn't kept by Rattle. • Your history and API key stay in this browser. • Website access is used only to place words into the field you're typing in. Rattle doesn't read or collect page content. WHAT YOU NEED • Your own Groq API key. Create one at console.groq.com and paste it into Rattle's settings. • A microphone, plus website access so words can be inserted. You switch both on once, from the settings page. Works on regular websites. Chrome doesn't allow extensions on its own pages, such as chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store.
