Tab managers have one job, and the popular ones keep failing it. Search their reviews and you find the same story for years: an update landed, or Chrome was reinstalled, or the profile got reset, and hundreds of saved tabs were gone with no way back. Tab Vault is built around that failure. Two things about it are specific enough to check for yourself, not just claims: Restoring never closes a tab you currently have open. Click restore and it opens what was saved alongside whatever you're already doing — it does not touch, replace, or suspend your current windows. Sounds obvious. It is not how most tab managers behave, including several very similar-looking tools that have appeared recently. One bad save cannot wipe your history. Every snapshot is stored on its own, not folded into one shared file that gets rewritten each time. That is the actual, specific reason the popular alternatives lose everything in a single bad update — a shared file means one interrupted write corrupts the whole archive. Here, a failed write can damage at most one snapshot, and the index that tracks them all checks itself against what is actually on disk every time Chrome starts, so the record can't quietly drift from the truth. HOW IT WORKS Tab Vault takes a snapshot of your open windows every five minutes, and again about thirty seconds after you finish opening or closing tabs. If nothing changed since the last snapshot, it does not save one — you get a real history, not two hundred identical copies. It keeps your last 120 automatic snapshots. Anything you save by hand, or mark as "keep indefinitely", is never removed to make room. SEARCH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVER HAD OPEN One search box covers every tab in every snapshot. The article you closed three weeks ago and cannot name is findable by any word in its title or its URL. Delete a snapshot by accident and you have nine seconds to undo it before it's gone for good. YOUR DATA CAN LEAVE WHENEVER YOU WANT Export the entire vault to a JSON file in one click. Import it back on any machine. If you are coming from OneTab, drop in a OneTab export and it becomes a snapshot. The export is the point. Storage on a single machine is one wiped profile away from nothing, no matter how careful the code is, so Tab Vault reminds you to take a copy rather than pretending local storage is safe. WHAT IT CANNOT DO, ON PURPOSE Tab Vault has no host permissions. It cannot read the content of any page you visit, and it never asks to. It makes no network requests of any kind. Not for analytics, not for icons, not for anything. Open your developer tools and check — that claim is meant to be verified, not trusted. There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing is ever transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN TERMS tabs — to read the titles and URLs of your open tabs.
