Overview

Loop bars, slow the tempo, shift pitch, split stems, and get a metronome count-in. Practice tool for YouTube backing tracks.

Pre-Count is a loop practice tool for YouTube. Pick any part of a video, loop it, slow it down, change the key, split the song into stems, and start every take on a metronome count-in — all from one panel over the player. Loop four bars at 60% speed until the passage is clean. Mute the bass stem and play that line yourself. Drop the key a whole step to match a down-tuned guitar. And instead of scrambling to catch the first beat each time the loop comes back around, get a "1, 2, 3, 4" count-in so you are already in time. Made for musicians, dancers, and music students who practice with YouTube backing tracks, play-alongs, and MRs. Everything runs in your browser — no account, no uploads, no data collected. At a glance: bar-accurate looping, playback speed 1%-400%, pitch shift in semitones, stem separation (drums, bass, other, vocals) with a mixer, automatic BPM and start-point detection, a metronome with pre-count, a measure timeline with bookmarks, and per-video settings that sync across your devices. 🔁 Loop Practice: Bar-Accurate Loops: Drag on the measure timeline or set a bar count, and the loop repeats exactly on the beat — not a rough drag on YouTube's scrubber. Count-In On Loop: Add a count-in before every repeat (Off / 2 Beats / 1 Bar / 2 & 4) so you come in on time instead of chasing the first beat. Precision Mode: Loads the whole song into memory and plays it from an audio buffer instead of the video element, giving sample-accurate loops, count-ins, and start points. Skip Sections: Mark the parts you do not want to practice and let playback jump over them. 🐢 Speed & Pitch: Playback Speed Control: Adjust YouTube's playback speed from 1% to 400% directly from the extension. The metronome automatically syncs to the adjusted tempo, and Precision Mode keeps the tone clean when you slow down. Pitch Control: Shift the audio up or down in semitones without changing the speed — match a down-tuned guitar, or transpose the song into an easier key. 🎚️ Stem Separation & Mixer: Splits the song into drums, bass, other, and vocals on your own machine, then lets you mute or solo each one from a mixer panel over the video — practice along with the drums only, or mute the bass and play that part yourself. 🥁 Metronome & Pre-Count: Custom Pre-Count: Set BPM and beats per bar, then hear a precise count-in before the video plays, so you start on time every time. Rhythm Modes: 10+ subdivision patterns — Every Beat, Strong/Weak Beats, 8th, 16th, Triplet, Swing, and more. Metronome Control: Independent sound/visual toggles and separate volume control. 📊 Tempo, Timeline & Sections: Automatic Tempo Detection: Analyzes the whole song offline to find its BPM and start point, and offers alternative results to pick from when the first answer is not the one you wanted. Full-Song Waveform Picker: Displays the whole song's waveform with an overview strip, zoom, and a bar/beat grid. Drag or scroll to fine-tune the tempo and start point, move section boundaries, and audition the result. Multi-Tempo & Sections: Handle songs with tempo changes by adding multiple BPM markers, or let detection split them for you. Manage sections via a list view with quick navigation. Measure Timeline & Bookmarks: Name the spots you keep returning to and jump between them with a shortcut. Real-time Overlay: Shows the current measure, effective BPM, and the previous/next bookmark by name while practicing. 💾 Presets, Sync & Privacy: Setting Presets: Save a named set of practice settings (loop, speed, pitch, metronome, stems) per video and switch back to it in one click. Auto-Save, Sync & Export: Settings are automatically saved per video and mirror across your devices through your Chrome account. Export/import as JSON for backup and sharing. 🎹 Recommended For: • Musicians practicing with backing tracks or MR • Guitar, piano, drum, and bass players learning a part by ear • Dancers who need a precise cue to start choreography • Music students counting measures while reading scores 🔒 Privacy: This extension runs entirely in your browser.
