Overview

Comprehensive WCAG 2.1/2.2 accessibility inspector and DevTools panel.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Inspector is a comprehensive, single-purpose Chrome Extension powered by the industry-standard axe-core engine. Designed for developers, designers, and QA testers, WCAGI makes it incredibly easy to identify and resolve accessibility issues directly within your browser. ## How to Use: 1. Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar for easy access. 2. Visit any website or web application you wish to audit. 3. Click the WCAGI icon in your toolbar to launch the on-page Widget for a quick, at-a-glance accessibility summary. 4. For deep-dive analysis and granular reports, open Chrome Developer Tools (F12) and navigate to the dedicated "WCAGI" tab. ## Key Features: - Automated WCAG Auditing: Run comprehensive checks against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 standards (Levels A, AA, and AAA) using the powerful axe-core testing engine. - Dedicated Developer Tools Panel: Easily navigate through categorized accessibility modules including Page Structure, Tables, Forms, Images, Links, and Color Contrast. - Visual Assist Overlays: Inject CSS directly into the page to visually debug issues. Includes tools to Linearize (check reading order), override Text Spacing, enhance Focus Indicators, and verify Target Sizes (WCAG 2.5.8). - Live Scan Mode: Automatically rescan the page on load or refresh, perfect for rapid development cycles. - Issue Highlighting & Exporting: Visually highlight failing elements directly in the DOM and export your full audit reports to CSV for issue tracking. ## Limitations & Known Issues: - Automated Testing Scope: As with all automated accessibility scanners, WCAGI can only detect roughly 30% to 40% of WCAG violations. Manual testing (e.g., keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing) is still strictly required to achieve full compliance. - Restricted Pages: Chrome security policies prevent this extension from scanning internal browser pages (e.g., `chrome://`, `chrome-extension://`) or the Chrome Web Store itself. ## Privacy First: This extension respects your privacy. It requires zero permissions to read your browsing history and does not communicate with any external servers. All scans are performed locally within your browser, and your preferences are saved securely on your own device. Absolutely no data is collected, tracked, or transferred.
