Overview

Focus sessions that lock distracting sites, with earned site access credit.

You sat down to finish the proposal. Twenty minutes later you are three headlines deep and cannot remember why you opened the tab. Focus Lock is the extension for that moment. Name the task. Pick the sites that pull you away. Press Start. From then on, every one of those sites shows you a lockscreen instead of its feed: your task in big letters, the time left in your session, and one green button. Back to work. It takes you straight to the tab you were working in, with your text, your scroll position and your half-filled forms exactly as you left them. WHAT YOU GET - Sessions that fit your day: 15, 25 or 50 minutes, your own length, or until you say stop. Add focus and break cycles if you like the rhythm. - Blocking your way: block whole categories (social, video, news, shopping and more), add your own sites, or flip it around and allow only the sites you need. - Your next step, always in view: the lockscreen shows the task you typed, so a wrong tab becomes a reminder instead of a detour. - Back to work, one click: choose a work tab, and every blocked page points back to it. Change it any time from the lockscreen. - Three ways to commit: Flexible ends when you like. Friction makes you wait a moment and confirm before ending early. Hard lock cannot be ended early through Focus Lock at all. - Earn your breaks: focus time builds site access credit. Spend it on a short break or a single-site unlock, or step away from the screen for free. - Schedules: start sessions automatically on the days and hours you choose. - Statistics that tell the truth: focused time, sessions, blocked attempts, gates you resisted, and streaks. Use them to adjust your routine, not to beat yourself up. TRY IT FIRST Not sure yet? The interactive demo runs the real popup and the real lockscreen in your browser, nothing installed: https://wolph.github.io/focus-lock/ YOUR BROWSING STAYS YOURS Focus Lock sends no extension data to a developer-controlled server. Full URLs, focus intentions, detailed events and live sessions stay in your local Chrome profile. There is no advertising, no sale of user data, no behavioural profiling and no remote code. Chrome Sync is optional and a setup choice. If you turn it on, it carries settings, block and allow lists, site access credit, streaks and per-device daily and monthly totals with domain-level blocked-attempt counts. Full URLs, intentions, detailed events and live sessions never enter Chrome Sync through Focus Lock. Settings > Privacy and data lets you export the local event log, disable sync, delete remote Focus Lock data, or delete every Focus Lock record and start over. Privacy policy: https://wolph.github.io/focus-lock/privacy/ PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN WORDS Focus Lock asks for optional access to HTTP and HTTPS websites during setup so it can read page addresses for local rule matching, check top-level navigations, show its lockscreen on blocked pages, and mute or restore affected tabs. It does not read page text, form fields, passwords or messages. It also uses Chrome permissions for local and optional synced storage, session and schedule alarms, tab state, site icons from Chrome's local favicon cache for the work tab picker, top-level navigation changes, extension-packaged audio, notifications, and dynamic registration of its packaged blocking script. GOOD TO KNOW - Chrome only. Blocking applies to top-level HTTP and HTTPS pages, not embedded widgets. - Chrome's internal pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot host the blocking script. - If Chrome has not woken the extension's worker when a page starts loading, that page can load before the block applies. It is re-evaluated as soon as the worker answers. - Focus Lock cannot stop you disabling the extension, and it does not block other browsers, apps or devices. Hard lock is a promise you make to yourself. - Chrome Sync is eventually consistent, so totals can briefly differ between devices. The defaults draw on published research on deliberation gates, scheduled breaks and visible time. Focus Lock is not a treatment and makes no such claim.
