Smart Recommendations for YouTube
Overview
Organize YouTube recommendations with your own category rules. Favorite, archive and block channels. Private, local storage.
Your recommendations, organized by your rules. YouTube chooses what to put in front of you. Smart Recommendations for YouTube gives you a separate place to sort what you discover and decide what deserves your attention. As you browse the YouTube homepage, the extension saves recommendation cards it finds there. Open your private dashboard to organize them into categories, keep favorites, archive videos, and block channels from your dashboard. CATEGORIES YOU CONTROL Create a category and give it words or phrases to look for in video titles. Any one matching rule puts a video in that category. A video can belong to several categories, so an AI lecture can appear under both AI and education. Three editable categories help you start: AI: AI, ИИ, Искусственный интеллект Музыка (Music): Live, SOMA, FM1 Образование (Education): лекция Rename them, change their keywords, or create your own. Rules apply to saved videos and new recommendations as they arrive. There is no AI classification, prompt, subscription, or external service deciding where a video belongs. COMPLETE WORDS, NOT ACCIDENTAL MATCHES Rules ignore case and match complete Unicode words or phrases in the title. AI matches “AI-agent” and “Learn AI”, but does not match “rain”, “wait”, or “Tchaikovsky”. Channel names are not used for category matching. TURN A SEARCH INTO A RULE Search for a word, click Add rule…, and choose a category. That is enough to sort matching titles now and in future. You can also select words in a video title and use the card's rule button. Categories stay visible beside your videos, with counts and editable rules. Search uses whole words by default; turn off Whole words when you want to explore partial matches. Category rules always use complete words. KEEP A FEED WORTH RETURNING TO All videos shows your active collection. Uncategorized shows videos without a matching category, including favorites. Use Favorites for videos worth revisiting and Archived for an out-of-sight pile you can restore later. Block a channel to hide its videos from active dashboard views; this does not block the channel on YouTube. Cards show the watch-progress indicator available on YouTube's homepage. Hide watched filters out videos with at least 80% progress. The extension does not monitor the player or read your watch-history page. LOCAL DATA AND BACKUPS Your database, rules, and choices stay in your browser's local storage. No extension account, backend, analytics, telemetry, or AI service. The dashboard loads thumbnails from YouTube, and video or channel links open YouTube. Export your data as JSON and import a backup to merge it with your collection. Categories are included. Earlier tags remain in saved data and backups for compatibility; tag controls have been replaced by categories. The extension reads homepage cards without changing YouTube's layout or recommendations. Its permissions are browser storage and access to YouTube. Install it, browse the homepage, and open the dashboard from the extension icon.
