Overview

Bilingual page translator: original and translation side by side. Free engines with no account, or your own DeepL or OpenAI key.

OpenImmersive Translator is a free, open-source (AGPL-3.0) translation extension for reading web pages in two languages. Each paragraph gets its translation right underneath, so the original and the translation sit side by side, a layout also called parallel translation. Free, no account • Free Google, Microsoft and MyMemory engines: no sign-up, no subscription. • Bring your own DeepL, OpenAI or DeepSeek API key: requests go from your browser straight to that provider, and you pay them directly. • Optional AI tiers (Standard, Premium) on openimmersive.ai need an account and use credits. Read the way you like • Bilingual mode keeps the page layout and puts the translation under each paragraph. • Translation-only mode when you just want the meaning. • Hover a paragraph to translate only that one, select a phrase for a quick popup, or translate what you type in text fields. • 199 target languages, handy for language learners reading Japanese, Spanish, Chinese or Korean sites with the original in view. • Press Alt+T to turn translation on or off. Privacy you can check • With the free engines or your own key, requests go straight to the engine you chose, with no OpenImmersive server in between. The AI tiers are processed on our servers. • Settings and keys stay in your browser. • Optional masking (beta) hides emails, phone numbers, card and ID numbers and API keys before text is sent, and restores them in the translation. • The source code is public on GitHub, so all of this can be checked. Files • The extension translates .srt and .ass subtitle files, and .html, .txt and .md files. • On openimmersive.ai: PDF translation with the layout kept (10 output languages, including Russian and Ukrainian), bilingual EPUB, plus Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
