Keyboard Text Cursor — Caret Browsing F7

Move through any page with a text cursor. Arrow keys navigate, Shift selects, Esc exits. No host permissions, nothing sent.

A text cursor you drive with the keyboard, on ordinary web pages. Press Alt+C and a blinking cursor appears in the page text. The arrow keys move it one character at a time, Ctrl and the arrows move by word, up and down move by line, Home and End jump to the ends of a line, and Page Up and Page Down move a screen. Hold Shift while moving to select, then press Ctrl+C to copy. Esc turns the cursor off and removes it completely. It runs only where you ask it to. The extension declares no website permissions at all: nothing loads on any page until you press the shortcut or click the toolbar button, and then only in that one tab. How to use 1. Open any page. 2. Press Alt+C, or click the toolbar button. 3. Move with the arrow keys. Hold Shift to select as you move. 4. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selection. Press Esc to turn the cursor off. Features • Move by character, word, line, paragraph or screen, and to the start or end of a line or of the page. • Hold Shift to select text while moving, and copy it with Ctrl+C. • Pick the cursor colour and thickness, and turn the blinking off. • Keeps its place on pages that re-render while you read them. • Scrolls the cursor clear of sticky site headers instead of parking it underneath them. • Rebind the shortcut to anything you like from your browser's extension shortcut settings. Good to know • Text inside form fields and editors is skipped on purpose, so the browser's own cursor keeps working there. • Embedded pages (iframes) and pages that build their text inside a shadow DOM are not covered in this version. • your browser has its own caret mode on F7. This extension is a separate tool; use whichever you prefer. Privacy Everything happens in your browser. The extension reads the text of the page you turned it on for, because that is how it knows where the cursor can go. No account, no servers, no tracking, nothing uploaded, nothing stored remotely.
