Highlight a claim anywhere on the web, right-click “Verify with The Reality Button,” and receive an AI-assisted credibility assessment supported by current web sources. You can also paste a claim directly into the extension. Each result includes: • A clear verdict: true, false, misleading, mixed, or unclear • A confidence assessment • A concise explanation written for a general reader • Supporting sources found through live Google Search grounding START WITHOUT TECHNICAL SETUP Each installation can receive up to 20 sponsored verifications per calendar month. No account, credit card, or Gemini API key is required. Sponsored checks are subject to shared service availability. Advanced users can optionally connect their own Gemini API key and choose among supported models. A personal key is not required for the included sponsored allowance. DESIGNED AROUND USER CONTROL The Reality Button analyzes content only when you deliberately select or enter a claim and request verification. It does not monitor your browsing history or scan pages in the background. To enforce the monthly allowance, the extension creates a random installation identifier. The backend pseudonymizes that identifier and stores only the resulting hash, usage count, month, and operational timestamps—not the selected claim. Old quota records are scheduled for automatic deletion after they are no longer needed. Users who choose advanced BYOK mode can connect their own Gemini API key. Their key is saved locally in Chrome and can be removed at any time. Claims and optional user keys are securely transmitted only to provide the requested verification and are not intentionally retained by The Reality Button after the request. The Reality Button is designed to make verification easier—not to replace independent judgment. AI-generated assessments may be incomplete or incorrect. Review the supporting evidence, and consult primary sources or qualified professionals for medical, legal, financial, or other high-stakes decisions.
