OpenBook replaces your browser new tab page with a beautiful pastel bento-style bookmark dashboard. It helps you browse, organize, and enjoy your existing browser bookmarks in a clean, visual layout — without changing your native favorites. WHAT OPENBOOK DOES • New tab bookmark board — capsule-style links with favicons in categorized pastel cards • Read-only bookmark import — reads titles and URLs from your browser; never creates, edits, or deletes native bookmarks • Smart auto-categorization — sorts bookmarks into 5 default groups: AI & Programming, Design Tools, Learning/News/Community, Entertainment, and Other • One-click Sync — re-reads browser bookmarks and re-applies auto-classification • Custom groups — create empty groups, add/remove bookmarks, rename groups, change card colors • Drag-and-drop layout — freely reorder category cards across columns with a smooth masonry board • Cross-group bookmark dragging — move bookmarks between any groups; a live placeholder shows exactly where they will land, and other items shift aside in real time • Reorder within a group — drag bookmarks to rearrange, including a pinned zone at the top • Pin favorites — right-click any bookmark to pin it to the top of its group • Quick delete — right-click any bookmark to remove it instantly, with a success toast (native bookmarks stay untouched) • Search & tabs — global search with pinyin-initial matching (e.g. "zh" finds Zhihu), type-to-search from anywhere, and category tabs to filter the board • Dark & light mode — one-click theme switch with a smooth full-screen transition • Privacy groups — protect a group with a PIN; locked content is blurred until unlocked; unlock state persists after refresh • Backup & restore — export all groups, layout and settings as a JSON file, and restore them anytime • Clear layout — wipe all extension data with confirmation (browser bookmarks stay untouched) • Daily quote — optional Hitokoto quote shown in the header (single JSON request; no user data sent) • About & changelog — built-in info about the extension, tech stack, bundle size, and version history DATA & PRIVACY • All layout, classification, pins, and privacy settings are stored locally on your device (chrome.storage.local) • No user accounts, no backend servers, no analytics, no tracking • Privacy policy: https://openbook-privacy.200228.top/ FEEDBACK & SUPPORT • Found a bug or have a feature request?
