Never hear the spike — protect your ears across the web
Decibel Limiter stops sudden loud sounds before they reach your ears. Set a volume ceiling and every tab stays under it: loud ads, jump scares and the next video that's twice as loud are caught before you hear them. Unlike tools that react after the blast, it holds the audio back by about 10 ms, so the volume is already down when the peak arrives. Only the peaks are cut; everything else plays exactly as it was. What you get: • Four scenarios: Night (−26 dBFS), Balanced (−20), Social (−30) and Music (−12) • A ceiling you can drag from 0 to −60 dBFS, with a live level meter • Even volume, to bring quiet and loud parts closer together • Per-site memory, or one setup for every site • Best quality mode, which protects the whole tab, or Fullscreen-friendly mode, which keeps the player's fullscreen button working • Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+D turns it on or off, Alt+Shift+S changes scenario • Light and dark themes, settings backup, English and Spanish Good to know: in Best quality mode, Chrome keeps video players inside the browser window (a Chrome security rule). Press F11, or Ctrl+Cmd+F on Mac, to fill the screen, or switch modes from the popup. Everything runs on your device. No account, no tracking, no data collection.
