Canvas-Notion Assignment Sync
Overview
Automatically sync Canvas assignments with Notion databases
Your assignments, already in Notion. All of them, always up to date. If you plan your life in Notion but your coursework lives in Canvas, you end up copying due dates by hand — and copying them again every time a professor moves a deadline. This extension does that for you, quietly, in the background. Connect it once and your Notion database fills with every assignment from every course: due dates, points, grades, submission status, and a link straight back to the Canvas page. It refreshes itself every half hour, so what you see in Notion is what's actually due. WHAT YOU GET A to-do list that sorts itself Assignments arrive ordered the way you'd actually want them — unfinished work first, soonest deadline at the top. Open Notion in the morning and the next thing due is the first thing you see. Checkboxes that tick themselves Turn something in, and its checkbox gets ticked on the next sync. Prefer to track it yourself? Untick it and the extension takes the hint, leaving that one to you. Your own planning stays yours Mark something "In Progress" in Notion and it stays "In Progress." Your notes, your edits, and any columns you add are never steamrolled — a status only moves forward when Canvas says something really happened, like a grade landing. No Canvas token to hunt down Most sync tools make you generate an API token first, and plenty of schools disable that entirely. This one uses the Canvas login you already have. Open a Canvas tab and it works. Deleted assignments don't linger When something disappears from Canvas, it gets archived in Notion instead of haunting your list for the rest of the semester. Everything in one row Course, assignment name, status, due date, points, grade, description, and a direct link to the Canvas page — plus a Notes column that's entirely yours. See exactly what happened A plain-language history of every sync shows what was added, updated, or archived, so you're never left wondering whether it ran. SETTING IT UP About five minutes, once: 1. Create a free Notion integration at notion.so/my-integrations and copy its token 2. Make a database in Notion and connect it to that integration 3. Paste the token and your database link into the extension, then click "Set Up Database" The extension builds the columns for you and runs your first sync while you watch. After that it keeps itself current on its own — and "Sync Now" is there for the moments you want an answer immediately. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Everything runs on your own computer. Your credentials are encrypted and stored locally. There's no account to create, no server in the middle, and nothing is sent anywhere except directly to Canvas and Notion. BEFORE YOU INSTALL This works with Canvas schools whose site address ends in instructure.com or canvaslms.com — that's most of them. Check the address bar when you're logged into Canvas; if your school uses its own custom domain instead, this extension won't be able to reach it yet. Free and open source. Built for students who'd rather spend their time doing the work than tracking it.
