Overview
Financial transparency for Tech Non-Profit & Foundations, in your web browser.
Financial transparency for Tech Non-Profits, Foundations, and Wikipedia. OpenWeb Transparency is a privacy-focused, tracker-free browser extension that cuts through the PR spin of major tech foundations and public-interest web entities. It injects verified IRS Form 990 filings, corporate disclosures, asset reports, and executive compensation directly into the websites of the organizations that shape the open web. Netizens rely on many organizations to keep the web open and free. But their financial data is often buried in complex, hard-to-read PDFs. OpenWeb Transparency changes that by seamlessly surfacing this critical information exactly where you need it: directly on the websites you visit. ⨠Key Features - š« Block Aggressive Banners: Automatically hides Wikipedia's notorious, screen-filling donation popups. - š° Follow The Money: Displays up-to-date (2023ā2025) revenue, total assets, operating expenses, and executive compensation for major tech foundations and web platforms. - š Grokipedia Integration: Adds a dynamic link on Wikipedia article pages to instantly check if the topic has a corresponding entry on Grokipedia. - šØ Unified Overlay UI: A sleek, pure-black (#000000 @ 92% opacity) overlay with consistent typography, dimensions, and layout across all supported sites. - š”ļø Zero Trackers: No data collection, no ads, no telemetry. Just pure, transparent code. - ā” Modern Codebase: Fully refactored using modern JavaScript (IIFE scope isolation, Template Literals, ES6+) for maximum performance and maintainability. For a complete list of supported domains, please see the project's GitHub repository. This project is licensed under the BSD 2-Clause License. š Privacy & Security Commitment This browser extension only requests host permissions for the specific domains listed above. It does not read or modify data on any other websites, and it contains no analytics, tracking scripts, or hidden data collection. š ļø Open Source & Community Driven OpenWeb Transparency is built for the community, by the community. We believe in net neutrality, an open internet, and complete transparency, extending to our own source code.
