Overview

Automatically scroll any web page hands-free — adjustable speed, keyboard shortcuts, reverse, per-site memory, and more.

Easy Auto Scroll — Hands-Free Reading, Reimagined (Version 3.1) Easy Auto Scroll automatically scrolls any web page so you can read, watch, follow along, or present without ever touching your mouse or keyboard. Version 3.1 is our biggest update yet: we rebuilt the scrolling engine from the ground up, fixed long-standing bugs, and added the controls our users asked for most — all while keeping the extension fast, private, and permission-light. WHAT'S NEW A brand-new smooth scrolling engine. We replaced the old timer-based movement with a modern animation engine that scrolls fluidly at your display's full frame rate. Motion is now buttery smooth at every speed, thanks to sub-pixel precision that eliminates the choppy, stuttering steps of previous versions. Whether you are inching through a dense article or gliding down a long feed, the experience finally feels effortless. Adjustable speed, from a crawl to a sprint. Instead of three fixed presets, you now get a full 1–100 speed range. Set it precisely with the slider in the popup, nudge it on the fly with keyboard shortcuts, or save your favorite default in Settings. There is a comfortable speed for every kind of content and every reader. It finally works everywhere. The single most common complaint about auto-scroll tools is that they do nothing on modern web apps — email, chat, dashboards, and documentation sites that place their content inside a scrolling panel rather than the main window. Easy Auto Scroll 3.1 automatically detects the region that actually scrolls and moves it, so the extension now works on far more of the sites you use every day. Scroll in any direction. Reading a wide table, a timeline, or an image gallery? You can now scroll up, down, left, or right — and reverse instantly with a click or a shortcut. Keyboard shortcuts. Start and stop with Alt+S, speed up with Alt+Up, slow down with Alt+Down, and reverse direction — all without opening a menu. Every shortcut is fully customizable from Chrome's shortcuts page. A real control popup. Click the toolbar icon for a clean control panel: a start and stop button, a speed slider, direction buttons, and a per-site auto-start toggle. Everything you need is one click away. An on-page overlay. A small, unobtrusive control appears on the page while scrolling, letting you speed up, slow down, pause, reverse, or stop right where your eyes already are. It fades out when you do not need it and returns the moment you do. Smart pause when you take over. When you scroll with your wheel or trackpad, tap the arrow keys, or click into a text field, auto-scroll politely pauses so it never fights you — then quietly resumes a moment later. Choose what happens at the end. When you reach the bottom of a page, Easy Auto Scroll can stop, jump back to the top and loop, or bounce back in the opposite direction. It even waits for infinite-scroll pages to load more content before deciding, so you keep gliding through endless feeds without interruption. Per-site memory and auto-start. The extension remembers your preferred speed for each website. You can also opt a trusted site into auto-start, so scrolling begins the moment the page loads — perfect for dashboards, teleprompter-style reading, or sheet music you follow every day. Smooth acceleration and accessibility. Scrolling now eases gently up to speed instead of lurching into motion, and the extension respects your system's "reduced motion" preference and includes proper labels for screen readers. BUGS WE FIXED The Settings page was completely broken — it pointed to files that did not exist and could not even be opened. It has been rebuilt from scratch, and every option now works and saves reliably. The toolbar badge used to show a confusing raw number and even left a stray "0" on the icon when scrolling was off. It now clearly shows your speed, is color-coded for running and paused, and clears cleanly when off. The toolbar tooltip always said "OFF," even while the page was scrolling. It now updates in real time to show the current state, speed, and direction. Auto-scroll previously moved only the main window, silently doing nothing on the many sites that scroll inside a panel. That limitation is gone. Scrolling used to stop abruptly on a page reload with no way to continue. Your scroll state is now preserved, so you can pick up right where you left off. A background timer kept ticking on every page you had visited, even when scrolling was off. The engine now runs only while it is actually needed, saving battery and CPU. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Easy Auto Scroll still asks for almost no permissions. It only acts on the tab you are on, when you tell it to. It collects no data and never tracks your browsing. Optional per-site auto-start is exactly that — optional, and granted one site at a time, only when you choose. Update today and rediscover the simplest way to read the web hands-free.
