YT Rename - Restore original names on YouTube
9 ratings
)Overview
Restores original names for users on YouTube by replacing handles (@user-xxx) with their actual display names.
Replaces handles like "@user-a1b2c3" on YouTube with each person's channel name. It's not just live chat: video comments, community posts, and YouTube Studio are covered too — everywhere handles show up. ■ Where it works • Live chat (including pop-out chat) Besides regular messages, names in Super Chats, Super Stickers, new members, membership gifts, and gifts are replaced. "@handles" inside gift messages are replaced as well. • Video comments • Comments on community posts • Comments in YouTube Studio ■ Features • Works automatically once installed • Hover over a name to see the original handle (@...) • First-comment highlight (for streamers) Colors the name on each viewer's first message since you opened the chat, so you can greet first-time viewers. • Turn replacement on or off per area and change the highlight color from the toolbar icon ■ How it works To look up names, the extension only accesses YouTube channel pages. Names are saved in your browser, so they show up instantly next time. When chat is moving fast, names in gifts and paid messages are replaced first. ■ Changelog 1.2.0 Added support for names in gifts and paid messages. Replacement is now faster in busy chats.
