Task Meter – Progress Sidecar
Overview
Track total, completed, remaining, and estimated time from Chrome's side panel.
Task Meter – Progress Sidecar is a simple Chrome side-panel extension for seeing, at a glance, how much work is left on the things you are studying or building. A side panel sits next to your browser and shows, for each task, the total, completed, remaining, and estimated remaining time. You update progress right in the list with − / current / total / +, without leaving the panel. Everything you create is stored only in Chrome on this device (chrome.storage.local). It is never sent to an external server, and there is no account and no sign-in. There is no analytics, tracking, or advertising. When you want a backup, you can export your data as a JSON file and import it again later. Import validates the file first and then merges it safely into your existing data. If you delete a task, you can restore it from a local recovery snapshot on your device. Key features • Today's footsteps by task and unit, net of corrections and Undo • Resume notes from the list, Focus, and compact mode • Reopen a themed daily result with “Call it a day,” without resetting progress • Recent-pace completion estimates, with an explicit insufficient-history state • Compact instrument for one task's meter, controls, note, and forecast • Choose Arcade, Steampunk, or monochrome Editorial; your choice stays on this device • Focus on a task's next five units, using its own unit and optional time estimate • Short theme-specific progress effects, with reduced-motion support • Bounded five-unit increments and safe undo of your last increment • Total, completed, remaining, and estimated remaining time at a glance • Direct progress updates in the list with − / current / total / + • Add, edit, and delete tasks, and restore a deleted task • Export a JSON backup • Import preview and safe Merge of a JSON backup • Switch between Japanese and English • Consistent view across multiple windows (side panels) History begins with actions recorded after this update. Existing and imported task amounts are not counted as fresh work. Each task retains the latest 90 days and up to 500 actions, pruned on its next save or Merge. Partially retained days are labeled. Deleted-task history remains while its recovery record is among the latest ten. JSON backups include task history and notes. The date estimate uses up to seven completed calendar days, counting zero days, and requires at least three full observed days. It is a recent-pace estimate, not measured time or a quota. Single purpose The single purpose of this extension is to let you see the total, completed, remaining, and estimated remaining time for work in progress, and update that progress in place. Local-only All data is stored only in Chrome's local storage on this device. Because chrome.storage.sync is not used, nothing is synced to other devices. No external transmission The extension has no networking feature. It never sends your tasks or settings anywhere.
