GitHub UI Translator

Translates the GitHub UI locally using bundled language dictionaries.

GitHub UI Translator is a browser extension that translates GitHub’s English interface into Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, French, or Russian using dictionaries bundled with the extension. 【Features】 ■ Translation runs entirely in your browser The extension does not use external translation APIs or cloud services. GitHub UI text is processed only in your browser. Page content is not recorded, stored, or transmitted externally. ■ Reduces the risk of mistranslating user-created content The extension includes safeguards designed to help keep user-created or user-configured content out of translation, including README files, issues, pull requests, comments, code blocks, repository names, branch names, tag names, and label names. It focuses on translating GitHub’s fixed UI text, such as navigation items, buttons, menus, and settings pages. ■ Supports eight languages From the extension icon in the toolbar, you can select one of the following eight target languages: ・Japanese ・Simplified Chinese ・Spanish ・German ・Brazilian Portuguese ・Korean ・French ・Russian When you change a setting, open GitHub tabs are automatically reloaded to apply the new configuration. ■ Easily turn translation on or off You can turn all translations on or off at any time and return to GitHub’s original English interface. Global header translation can also be disabled separately. 【Current limitations】 ・The extension translates fixed UI text registered in its bundled dictionaries. Unregistered text remains in English ・Dynamic text containing numbers or dates, such as “3 commits” or “opened 2 days ago,” may not be translated ・User-created content, including usernames, repository names, and posts, is excluded from translation in principle ・Changes to GitHub’s page structure may occasionally cause some user-created content to be translated unintentionally ・Only github.com is supported. GitHub environments on other domains, including GitHub Enterprise Server, are not supported 【Open source】 The project is released under the MIT License.
