LST — Local Subtitle Translate

Translate Netflix and Prime Video subtitles locally with Ollama, or optional DeepSeek and Gemini providers.

LST — Local Subtitle Translate adds locally generated translations to Netflix subtitles. LST connects to an Ollama server running on your computer and lets you choose or download a model. Subtitle translation can happen in real time, or an episode can be precomputed and cached before playback. By default, subtitle text is sent only to Ollama running at http://localhost:11434. Developer comments I built LST after moving to Japan and running into a surprisingly common problem: a lot of anime available here only includes Japanese subtitles. LST started as a way to make those shows easier to follow by translating subtitles locally with my own Ollama models instead of relying on a cloud translation service. Translation is performed through a user-configured Ollama server, which defaults to http://localhost:11434. LST does not use a developer-operated translation service, analytics service, or telemetry backend. A compatible Ollama installation and at least one installed model are required. LST currently focuses on Netflix subtitle translation and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Netflix. 0.5.7: - Added DeepSeek and Gemini support. - Not Local, but will be useful for users with less powerful computers - Added automatic look-ahead caching. - Added the Advanced translation prompt editor with restore-original behavior. - Added idle behavior for Netflix Home and Search pages. - Updated privacy wording for optional remote providers. - Expanded the developer comments with the Japan/anime context. - Updated version metadata to 0.5.7 in manifest.json, package.json, and package- lock.json.
