Soft Focus

A soft, low-contrast cream theme for calm reading and focus.

I made Soft Focus for myself. I built it during a time of grief, when a small, calm project was what I needed. I spend long hours reading, writing and journalling in the browser, and the default bright white started to feel loud. I wanted something closer to paper: warm, quiet, and easy on the eyes late in the day. This theme is the result, and it is now the colour I write in every day. What it changes - Tab strip: soft sand, one shade deeper than the toolbar, so the open tab is easy to find - Toolbar, bookmarks bar and New Tab page: warm cream - Address bar: a lighter cream with near-black text - New Tab links: muted terracotta - Incognito windows: a dark brown frame, so private windows stand out What it does not change Web pages keep their own colours. Soft Focus changes the browser around them, not the websites themselves. Small details I cared about Every text colour was checked against its background, so tabs and the address bar stay easy to read (about 12:1, well above the usual 4.5:1 guideline). Privacy A theme is only colours and an icon. Soft Focus has no code, asks for no permissions and collects no data. Works in Chrome, Brave and Edge on a computer.
