SwitchCue is a workspace switcher for people who run several projects in one browser — client work, a side project, a course, a search for somewhere to live. Save the tabs you are using for one project, write one line about what you were doing, and put it down. When you come back — tomorrow, or after three other projects — SwitchCue reopens those tabs, shows you the line you wrote, and puts you back on the page you were reading. You start working instead of reconstructing. HOW IT WORKS • Create a Workspace from the tabs you have open. You choose which ones. • Write a Next Action: one line about the next concrete step. It is optional, and it is the thing you will be glad of on Monday. • Switch to another Workspace. SwitchCue saves the tabs you are leaving, then opens the ones you are going to. • Pause a Workspace when you are done for the day, and Resume it when you are not. Close the browser and it offers that Workspace back by name. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO • It saves a Workspace before closing that Workspace's tabs. A save that does not finish closes nothing. • It only ever touches tabs you put into a Workspace. Everything else in the window is left alone, and the panel tells you how many of those there are. • It manages one Chrome window at a time, and says so plainly if you open the panel in a different one. YOUR DATA STAYS ON THIS COMPUTER SwitchCue has no account and no server. Your Workspaces, tab addresses and notes are stored in your browser's local storage on this computer, and the extension contains no code that sends them anywhere. It requests no access to the content of any page, and it cannot read one. There is a local usage journal — counts and buckets, never a name, title or address — which you can switch off in Settings. It is stored on your machine like everything else. Settings has an Export button. That file is the only copy of your Workspaces that survives uninstalling the extension, so take one before you uninstall. BETA This is a beta. It does what is described above and is deliberately narrow. Pages Chrome does not let extensions reopen — settings pages, the New Tab page, local files — cannot be saved in a Workspace, and SwitchCue says so rather than losing them quietly.
