Favorite Tiles
Overview
A local, movable dock for your favorite bookmarks.
Favorite Tiles is a local, movable dock for opening the bookmarks you reach for most while you browse. Set up 1. Keep the links you want close in the bookmarks bar. By default, Favorite Tiles uses the first Favorites, Favourites, 收藏夹, or 收藏 folder it finds below that bar. If none is found, it uses the bar's direct web bookmarks instead. 2. On normal HTTP and HTTPS webpages, the dock appears automatically so it remains available as you move across tabs. Use the Favorite Tiles toolbar button to hide or show it on the current page. 3. Open Favorite Tiles Settings to choose any bookmark folder instead, if you prefer a different source. Use the dock • Drag the handle to put the dock where it is least distracting. • Click the handle to collapse or expand it. • Select a tile to open that HTTP or HTTPS bookmark in a new tab. • In Settings, choose compact, comfortable, or large icons; turn icon enhancement and animations on or off; reset the dock position; and clear the optional icon cache. What it does Favorite Tiles reads bookmark titles, URLs, and folder structure only to select and render the chosen bookmarks. It keeps the source order, removes duplicate URLs, and updates an already open dock when bookmark or settings changes are received. It does not create, edit, delete, move, or reorder bookmarks. The dock uses Chrome's built-in favicon endpoint for bookmark icons. When Improve bookmark icons is enabled, the extension can re-render those icons at a higher resolution and cache the processed icon data locally. The cache can be cleared from Settings. Local-first and private Favorite Tiles has no account, cloud service, analytics, telemetry, advertising, or developer-operated network service. It does not send bookmark data, settings, favicon cache data, or page data to the developer or to third parties. The extension stores only local extension state in chrome.storage.local: the selected bookmark folder, icon and animation preferences, dock position and collapsed state, and the optional enhanced favicon cache. It does not use storage.sync. The extension runs its bundled local dock on normal HTTP and HTTPS webpages so it is available across tabs. This site access is used only to render the extension interface; the dock does not read page text, forms, cookies, account credentials, page URLs, page titles, or browsing history. Limitations • The dock can appear only on pages where Chrome permits extension injection; browser-internal, Chrome Web Store, and other restricted pages are unavailable. • It shows only bookmarks with standard HTTP or HTTPS addresses. Bookmarklets, local files, and non-web bookmark URLs are not tiles. • Favorite Tiles is a launcher, not a bookmark manager: it does not search, organize, sync, import, export, or modify your bookmarks.
