Seanote

Highlight, underline, and add notes to web text, then review saved annotations and storage insights from a fast popup.

Seanote is a local-first web annotation extension for focused reading, research, and review. Select text on a page to highlight it, add an underline or strikethrough, copy it, or attach an editable note without creating an account. Choose from built-in marker and line styles, set your own colors in Settings, and use the custom-color marker when you want the toolbar icon to match your selected color. Notes support plain text and Markdown, with edit/preview modes and quick formatting actions for bold text, links, lists, and code. Your annotations stay in Chrome extension storage on your device. Seanote restores them when you revisit or refresh a page, including many pages whose content arrives after the initial load. The popup lets you review annotations on the current page, export that page to Markdown, clear it when needed, and browse saved pages by date or URL. Settings include local storage management and the option to temporarily hide annotations on a page without deleting them. Seanote was inspired by the simple, dependable local annotation workflow loved by Beanote users. It continues that spirit on a modern Manifest V3 foundation.
